INSTRUCTIONS ONLY
The Cherokee-class tugboat was designed to not only pull some of the world's largest ships, but keep up with a naval fleet for extended periods of time on the open ocean. It was one of the first ships in the Navy to be equipped with a Diesel-electric drive, and had a sizable fuel carrying capacity. This ship was responsible for pulling damaged vessels to safety, often under duress. Of the first three commissioned ships of its class, only The Cherokee survived WWII. Subsequently, the class designation for this tug was renamed Cherokee.
